The Club

By Cheryl Marie Wade

VOICE 1: What? You're still mourning the loss of the use of your limbs?

VOICE 2: You're still greiving over sight denied?

VOICE 3: Don't tell me you still miss that little piece of your soul stolen by the keeper of the keys?

VOICE 1: Then do not enter! You're not welcome here.

VOICE 2: We're the happy face people

VOICE 3: If you want to be included

ALL THREE VOICES: SMILE!!!

VOICE 1: Let a smile be your umbrella

VOICE 2 & 3: (sing this) I'm smilin' in the rain, just smilin' in the rain...Oh, it isn't any trouble just to s.m.i.l.e., no it isn't any trouble just to--

VOICE 1: That's enough girls--

VOICE 2 & 3: s.m.i.l.e., no it isn't any trouble just to--

VOICE 1: Lock your sadness in the pantry, write your longing in a letter but

ALL THREE VOICES: SMILE!!!

VOICE 1: Remember, if you want to be included: no sorrow allowed.

ALL THREE VOICES (in a nasty whisper): smile....
