Accessibility
Cheryl Marie Wade spent her life insisting that disabled people be able to take part on their own terms. This website tries to honour that.
Changing how the site looks
Select Display options at the very top of any page to change:
- the background and text colours, including dark and high-contrast (yellow on black) options
- the text size
- the font, including the easy-read Atkinson Hyperlegible font
- line and letter spacing
Your choices are remembered in your browser. If you have not chosen a colour, the site follows your device's light or dark setting. You can also zoom the page up to 400% without losing content.
Screen readers and keyboards
- Every page can be used with a keyboard alone. A “Skip to main content” link is the first thing on each page.
- Pages use headings, landmarks and lists so you can move around them quickly with a screen reader.
- Each poem is on its own page. Lines and stanzas are kept as Wade set them, and each poem has links to the previous and next poem.
- The site does not use moving content, and respects your device's reduced-motion setting.
