A Child's Dream of Daylight

By Cheryl Marie Wade

I want to sink into the sofa cat at my elbow cushions plumped legs dangling. And when I scoot innocence forward tentative feet upon the floor will you promise the floor will be there solid?

So dark this house this room. The walls moan. I hear footsteps. Your face Old Spice after shave please please I can't breathe.

I want to sink into the sofa kitty at my elbow a real child a real child.
